This is a review of a book I did written by the very talented Charles Yallowitz that is the second volume of his Legends of Windemere series.  Enjoy!

The next installment of the Legends of Windemere series is finally out!  I was very eager to find out what happened to the characters after their initial adventures at the academy, so when I saw this was out, I just had to read it!

So Luke and the rest of the characters have all returned for this book and they all have their own role to play in this story.  They leave the academy and journey forth into the world.  Something that I really enjoyed about this book was that the Lich kinda took a backseat and his minions took over the hunt for Luke and his companions.  This gave us a chance to learn more about the other forces in Windemere that are hunting Luke and his companions.  The Lich does show up in the book but it’s very briefly, and let’s be honest he is still recovering from his wounds from the last book.

The crew heads to other towns and cities and they acquire another party member, Nyx.  She is one heck of a spell-slinger and she has a fiery attitude to match!  She also develops unique relationships with all the different members of the group and it leads to several hilarious exchanges of dialogue and several crazy situations.

My favorite characters of these books remain Fritz (and his noble stead Bessaria) and Nimby, the carefree halfling.  I really enjoyed the relationships the characters all had with each other, but my favorite relationship was the friendship between Luke and Nimby.

There are a few things that happen that are very sad and they actually almost brought tears to my eyes because these were characters that I was really emotionally invested in and I cared about them and their fate so much that losing one of them would be like losing a close personal friend.

Charles Yallowitz has created this amazing world and these original characters and made a story that grabs your attention and doesn’t let you go until the very end.  You have got to check this one out!
